Civil Defence Response Plan review Tuesday 11th March, 7:30pm-9pm

Devonport’s plan has been in place for almost three years and it’s time to be
reviewed. Over this time we’ve seen disasters ranging from Christchurch,
through Wellington, Seddon and now the Wairarapa.
Civil Defence is about being self sufficient as families, neighbours and communities –
identifying WHAT has happened and HOW to deal with it. We have an Emergency
Response Group in Devonport and existing Members will appreciate New Members. So,
come along and be part of emergency planning for Devonport!
Devonport U3A meeting Wednesday 12th March, 10.00 am
Venue: Harmony Hall, Wynyard Street, Devonport
Theresa Sjoquist will be talking about eminent potter and teacher Yvonne Rust QSM, who
was instrumental in founding the Northland Craft Trust and turning the disused Waldron's
quarry into a centre for artistic skills development. The Quarry still functions today as a
community art centre, encouraging and supporting artists. Theresa will also talk about the
writing of her biography of Yvonne Rust and some of the problems she encountered

“Fair On The Hill” Saturday 22nd March, 12noon-6pm
Venue: Devonport Primary School, Kerr Street, Devonport
The Devonport Primary 'Fair on the Hill' is perfect fun for all the family. Lots
of outrageously fun kids activities, live music, gorgeous food, books and brica-
brac for the bargain hunters and plenty of sweet treats to stock the pantry.
School fairs don't get any better than this.
Navy Open Day Saturday 29th March, 10am-4pm
Venue: Devonport Naval Base
Ship and base tours, band performances, parade display, damage control
displays, SH-2G Sea Sprite, kapa haka performances and MORE! Visitors
can access the Devonport Naval Base via Stanley Bay Gate (Calliope Road)
or the Main Gate (Queen’s Parade). The use of public transport is strongly
recommended as there will only be limited parking available on Ngataringa
Field and the Naval Base surrounds
