We are a non-political, community elected community organisation,
formed in 1980, to actively work to protect and improve the unique
environment and lifestyle of the Bayswater peninsula. In 2010
we are celebrating 30 years of working for the Bayswater peninsula.
In July 2009 BCC became an incorporated society. The Constitution
can be viewed online from the Ministry of Economic Development's
Societies and Trusts Online website.
The
Executive which manages the BCC's affairs is elected every two
years at a public meeting. The Executive meets every two months
to discuss local concerns, determine appropriate responses to
local issues, and meet with community and council representatives
as opportunity arises. We make both informal and formal representations
to the Devonport Community Board, North Shore City Council, regional
authorities and other community support and environmental groups
to ensure the voice of Bayswater residents and ratepayers is heard.
We look forward to working under the new Auckland Council structure,
especially with the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board from 1 November
2010.
The
latest BCC newsletter was distributed on the Bayswater peninsula
in May 2010. If you would like to see a copy, please contact us.
We are considering new ways to communicate more regularly with
the community, possibly via Facebook or our own website. Watch
this space. Comments welcome.
